PHOENIX - About 165 jobs are up for grabs as the Phoenix Union High School District holds ateacher career fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Central High School, 4525 N. Central Ave.

The district will lose more than 300 veteran teachers in the next two years as part of a voluntary early retirement program, district spokesman Craig Pletenik said.

Teaching jobs are available in all subjects but especially in math, English as a second language and special education. A dozen counselors also are needed. Applicants should bring resumes, transcripts, certification and letters of recommendation.
