PV DISTRICT OFFERING VARIETY OF CLASSES IN SUMMER SESSIONS

School is out for Paradise Valley district students, which means a lot of kids
are looking for something to do.
Many academic and recreational programs are being offered through the Community
Education Department for the PV district.
Students can get caught up in school through the academic courses or sign up for
fun summer activities.
* Elementary school classes are available at five of the elementary schools.
Desert Trails, Eagle Ridge, Grayhawk, North Ranch and Pinnacle Peak have a range
of fun summer enrichment classes. Cheerleading, arts and crafts corner, mad
scientist, sports bonanza and kindergarten boot camp are just a few of the
classes offered to pre-kindergarten through seventh-grade students.
Classes start today from 9 a.m. until noon. Cost for a 1 1/2-hour class is
$99 and a three-hour class is $198. Registration deadline is today.
* The middle school summer program includes English/writing, study skills and
general math courses at Shadow Mountain High School, 2902 E. Shea Blvd.
Session 1 begins June 6 and session 2 begins June 26 from 7 a.m. until noon.
Registration deadline for session 1 is Monday and session 2 is June 21. Cost is
$160per session and $30 for bus transportation.
Also, middle school students can sign up for a university enrichment program,
which includes classes in ceramics, computer design, culinary, fashion design,
photography, fitness and Dr. 101. The university program will be at Explorer
Middle School, 22401 N. 40th St. Session 1 begins Monday and session 2 begins
June 25. Cost is $88 per class.
* The high school summer program includes English, English as a second language,
arts, math, science, social studies, world languages, career, technical and
driver's education at Shadow Mountain High School, 2902 E.
Shea Blvd. Session 1 begins Monday and session 2 begins June 26. Both sessions
start at 7 a.m. Registration deadline for session 1 is Thursday and session 2 is
June 21. Cost is $175 per session and $30 for bus transportation.
